Job Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and motivated Heavy Duty Mechanic Apprentice in their 2nd or 3rd year to join our team. This apprenticeship offers hands-on experience working with a variety of heavy equipment. The role provides an excellent opportunity to develop advanced mechanical skills in a dynamic environment, supporting the maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of vehicles and equipment. Working across multiple industries including marine and automotive.
Duties:
-Assist senior mechanics in diagnosing and repairing heavy equipment such as commercial transport and excavation
-Perform routine maintenance tasks on industrial, automotive, and marine equipment
-Use hand tools, power tools, and welding equipment to carry out repairs
-Read schematics and technical manuals to understand machinery systems
-Conduct inspections to identify mechanical issues and potential safety hazards
-Support in the operation of heavy equipment for testing purposes under supervision
-Maintain a clean and organized work area adhering to safety standards
-Learn to operate various types of industrial equipment safely and efficiently
-Collaborate with team members to ensure timely completion of repair projects
-Work independently when needed
Requirements:
-Currently enrolled in or completing a Heavy Duty Mechanic apprenticeship program (2nd or 3rd year)
-Willing to work with auto and marine repairs
-Able to work independently and troubleshoot sometimes with minimal supervision
-Hands-on experience
-Class 5 or 7 license (class 3 an asset)
-Pleasure Craft Marine Operator card an asset
-Familiarity with hand tools, power tools, and maintenance procedures required
-Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and operate heavy or industrial equipment under supervision
-Strong mechanical knowledge with an aptitude for troubleshooting complex systems
-Excellent customer service skills when interacting with clients or team members on-site
-Ability to follow detailed instructions from schematics and technical manuals
-Good communication skills and a proactive attitude towards learning and safety compliance
