One Straw Society is excited to announce a new summer position for youth, thanks to a grant from Employment and Social Development Canada! This is fun, rewarding work with a long-established non-profit Society,
organizing events, working with plants and gardens, and focusing on projects that are all about food security on the Sunshine Coast. Opportunities to advance to other, longer-term positions in future. Free workshop/training opportunities too!

The Summer Programs Coordinator will work on the ground and help oversee events and programs including:

* The Ocean Vegetables Community Garden in Sechelt (plant and maintain Community Garden, work with volunteers, seek donations, design signs)
* Educational Programs (help with overall ideas, curriculum, organization and promotion of workshops and learning events, including a calendar of workshops)
* Summer Events (help organize One Straw's big summer event and coordinate volunteers, design promo materials & promote via social media, seek donations, manage event sites & information kiosks, help with setup and take-down)
* Local Green Banner Directory (contact local food producers and businesses to update information, help to update, print and distribute brochure, see:
* Admin Support (help with social media, mailchimp, other online and print media, surveys, record-keeping, and other duties as required)

open to applicants aged 15-30 (condition of the grant)
Reliable transportation
No specific qualifications required, other than a genuine interest

Wage: $16.00/hour
Hours: TBA (28 to 35 hours/week)
