From an English manor home, this George III (1760-1820) slope-front desk - called a secretaire - is fitted with fine inlay and ivory pulls on the interior drawers The 4 exterior drawers have brass "swan neck" pulls.

As the photos show, it is a richly polished mahogany piece with many smaller drawers for stamps, pens, and stationery plus pigeon holes for envelopes. The four lower drawers are deep enough to hold box games and larger items. There are also 2 hidden compartments for stashing important documents and other items!

The felt lining has been sun-faded badly on one side and we have the name of a tradesman who does antique refinishing and repair work if someone wants to do that.

Appraised at $3500. Serious offers welcome.
